As part of my Tourism Policy and Planning (TMGT 3020) course at Thompson Rivers University, I, along with four of my peers, created a tourism experience route for the province of British Columbia. This assignment helped to develop my skills in adhering to regional and client guidelines, client research, team collaboration as well as technical processes.

On the Touring Route / Route Rationale page, you will find an introduction to our route, including an explanation of why we selected it. On the Target Markets page, you will find information about the travellers we proposed this tour for.  The Locations / Photos / Content page summarizes our locations chosen and provides information on what tourists could experience while on our Tourism Experience Touring Route.

The Client

My group decided to build our route for the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA). TOTA is a not-for-profit society that represents and supports business and community tourism interests throughout the Thompson Okanagan region. Working as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), they follow the Super, Natural British Columbia brand and act as a representative of our provincial DMO, Destination British Columbia.

TOTA’s Purpose: To sustain the Thompson Okanagan region as a competitive destination

TOTA’s Mission: Sustainable growth of tourism through “community engagement, innovative leadership in promoting authentic experiences, and inspiring creative collaboration.”

TOTA’s Vision: For the Thompson Okanagan region to be highly successful year-round and clearly differentiated
